It’s that time of year again! When we get to figure out on our own if we owe our great government even more money. Oh wait, now you won’t have to do it alone, you’ve got H&R Block TaxCut. These programs are great for for both federal and state taxes. They will save you tons of time and possibly money…Who knows, maybe the government owes you money, Yeah right, fat chance.
Wait, you don’t want to pay your taxes? You think you can hide? The IRS will find you, they have tracking devices implanted into every US Citizen. I know, I dug mine out of my back last year. So, if you can’t find your tracking device, get some of this software to help you out.
The last thing you want is one of those pesky IRS reps breathing down your back as you are going through statements and receipts trying to prove that your cable bill is a write-off because you use Spanish in your job and you have to watch the Spanish channel to keep up on your second language.
Since most of you here are already admittedly a Wootaholic, I’m sure you are aware of the somewhat hidden Sellout.Woot.Com that is in association with the Yahoo! Shopping Network. They tend to have some really great deals with some very limited product quantities. I’ve found a few nice deals here from time to time. I think today’s Canon ZR100 is a nice pickup for only $139.99 plus shipping. Of course you won’t be making professional movies with this, but it looks like it has the potential to be a nice camcorder for most of your needs. If you are interested in making higher quality movies, or recording in HD, you may want to look at our suggest items. This will record in 16:9 widescreen, so that is a nice feature for a unit priced at this level.
I know that some camcorders are moving towards recording to onboard hard drives, but MiniDV should be a perfectly fine format for you for quite sometime.Gone are the days of loading that beast of a camcorder up onto your shoulder and looking like you are recording for the nightly news. This is a great pickup for those of you who won’t use a camcorder constantly, but still would like to have the ability to record those special events. In those cases, unless you have a lot of disposable income, this is a nice little entry level unit to see how much you’ll actually use one. I know that people usually buy these with the best intentions in the world to use, but it quickly starts gathering dust in the closet and becomes dated techonology.
Come on. Seriously? I’m really getting tired of Bluetooth Headsets on Woot. We MUST be reaching a saturation level here folks! One of the only good things I can see about this deal is getting the Dongle. But don’t get excited over a dongle. Your friends will make fun of you. If you don’t have friends, please feel free to get excited. But then again, if you don’t have any friends, I guess you won’t be needing a headset to talk to your friends. Check out the Sellout Woot item tonight. It actually looks like a decent little camcorder. Expect a post on it later.
Here is yet another Polaroid high MegaPixel camera. This is for those of with small hands or pockets. The Ultra-Compact is part of the allure of this piece. It comes with the usual set of accessories and should fill most needs quite nicely. These nice little cameras are nice to take on vacations or other places where you don’t want to carry around a big camera big. This is small enough to just fit in your pocket or your wife’s purse. It’s one of those cameras that will is nice to carry around with you at all times because you never know when you may come upon a situation where you must absolutely take a picture. It takes up to a 2 GB SD card which should be fine for most everybody. If you’ve been thinking about picking up a small digital camera, this may be worth looking into a bit more.
Did you know that Woot makes older shirts available for purchase for a time period after they first appeared? They keep the top 20 shirts around as well as make shirts from that week available regardless of their popularity. They are available even if they sold out the first time around. So don’t be sad the next time a shirt sells out before you can get it - come here and find it! The only catch is that they charge an extra $5 - but it’s worth it if you missed out the first time around.
We here at Wootaholic like to think we have a dual purpose for our readers. We’ll give you a quick rundown of our thoughts on that day’s Woot item and then provide you with alternative suggestions or accessories for this products. This is one of those really tempting items to buy that will just end up stuck in a box in storage within a week after you get it. This would be a great pickup for children (especially if you picked up those cheap MP3 players a little while ago). This just isn’t to be bought by anybody who is really worried about sound quality or little things like that. Sure you can pick them up to take them to beach or someplace that you wouldn’t mind losing them, but I would try to use them in a situation where you are looking for quality sound. It looks like they run on 6 (!?) AAA batteries or with an AC source. Phillips has been nice to enough to leave that up to you. That’s right, these don’t come with an AC adapter.
So please, just go ahead and skip this unless you have very low hopes. Take a look at some of the better alternatives out there. Sure, you’re going to have to spend a bit more money, but it’s better in the long run than going through dozens of these. Have a good one Wootaholics! If you’ve never had a chance to use a Dyson vacuum, you really don’t know what you are missing out on. These are just amazing machines. Woot’s offering today is a great price to introduce yourself to the Dyson line of products. They have a lot of different versions with some making you think you are ordering off In and Out’s secret menu. If you are personally set with your vacuum needs, you may want to consider picking one up to give as a wedding present. It’s one of those gifts that people will remember for quite some time.
Again, there are some much more expensive models out there, but this is a great way to get started. They are built very strongly and we’ve never had a problem. I do find it a bit concerning to be able to see everything that it picks up, but I guess that’s a lot better than it still being in the carpet. So go forth Wootaholics and find a reason to pick one of these bad boys up. I’m personally set for now, but will be telling a bunch of people about this very soon.
Zankster has been doing so well in his Anger Management classes, I don’t want him to relapse because of tonight’s entry. If you are a reader of the site you already know his very strong feelings on the matter. It’s actually an anger that we both have, but hasn’t expressed to each other. We recognize a lot of the same things and this is certainly one of them. If you are one of those guys who wears these at work, please do not raise a “sushing” finger to inform me that you are actually on the phone still and shouldn’t be in front of me trying to start a conversation.
If you are a true Wootaholic, you most likely already own at least one Bluetooth Headset. Unless the others makes your ears bleed, you probably don’t need another. Otherwise, it’s a great price on a brand name headset. But please, unless you live in a state where you can only drive and talk on a cell phone if you are using a headset of some kind, please keep to just using these in your car or around your house. There is no need to shower the rest of the world with your coolness.
Need something cheap to get the job done? This will do it. At least I think it will, cause I’ve heard the Toshiba is much better than this. I have a Toshiba 4990 Upconverting DVD player that does a great job and plays all of my DivX files. So I don’t see why this one wouldn’t do the same. Actually, according to the specks this one plays DVD, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW, SVCD/VCD, WMV, JPEG, WMA, MP3, DivX and MPEG. Now that I’ve spammed the internet with all o those key words let get down to business. If you don’t have the cash, which is why we are shopping on Woot in the first place, for a high end 1080p DVD player, then go for one of these upconverters.
Do you own an iPod and have an unnatural love for the movie Contact or Stargate? This is the PERFECT item for you. People I work with know how much I love my speaker docks for various MP3 players. Since I gave back my iPod to my wife and picked up a Zune, I’m using an Altec Lansing Zune dock that I just adore. The people that have the JBL dock seem to just love it. You can hookup any other MP3 player via the headphone jack and play anything you’d like. I hook my dock up to my computer and use it as my computer speakers as well. The only bad thing is that this will only charge your iPod. You’ll have to run off of another power source if you use a different MP3 player. I do think there may be cheaper options that will get you similar results. This is probably great if you have the extra cash, otherwise feel free to shop around a tad and see what else is out there. This doesn’t fall into a “Must Buy” for me. Take it easy and I’ll see you all with Friday’s item!
