This is exactly what I need! I can put these on at work and nobody will know that I am actually watching a movie! Everyone will think I’m just one of those cool guys that wears sunglasses indoors. This is awesome!

Who am I kidding? The idea sounds good, but I don’t want to look like an…I better stop there. I don’t want to alienate anyone. Maybe someone can prove me wrong. Has anyone out there ever used something like this? Maybe this is a nice product, but I wouldn’t spend $100 on this right now.

iRobot Roomba 4296 Remote Scheduler Robotic Vacuum

iRobot Roomba 4296 Remote Scheduler Robotic Vacuum iRobot Roomba 4296 Remote Scheduler Robotic Vacuum

Growing up I dreamed that I would have a robot that would due all of my chores. I wanted to be outside playing with my friends instead of cleaning my room, helping wash the dishes and cleaning the floors. That day is kinda here, if you think the Roomba is really a robot.I think you can do much better than this for your home cleaning needs. There are just better options out there for you. Of course they all require you to push it around, but that’s how that works. But hey, I get a lot of exercise pushing my old school vacuum around the house. Although, the idea of sitting on my couch while I watch the Roomba do its job does sound tempting. I could also taunt it by throwing crumbs in front of it and in places where it already vacuumed. Although, I do recall a Roomba shooting lasers out of a hidden panel and frying its owner when someone else tried this. Hmmm….

Canon ZR830 MiniDV Camcorder with 35x Optical Zoom

February 13th, 2008 by Zankster
Canon ZR830 MiniDV Camcorder with 35x Optical Zoom Canon ZR830 MiniDV Camcorder with 35x Optical Zoom

At first I thought these were leftovers from Sellout.Woot.Com, but this is the ZR830 model, Sellout had the ZR100. The ZR830 is a great deal and its $10 cheaper than what Sellout was selling the ZR100 for. This is a nice pickup for only $129.99 plus shipping. Of course you won’t be making professional movies with this, but it looks like it has the potential to be a nice camcorder for most of your needs. If you are interested in making higher quality movies, or recording in HD, you may want to look at our suggest items. This will record in 16:9 widescreen, so that is a nice feature for a unit priced at this level.

I know that some camcorders are moving towards recording to onboard hard drives, but MiniDV should be a perfectly fine format for you for quite sometime.Gone are the days of loading that beast of a camcorder up onto your shoulder and looking like you are recording for the nightly news. This is a great pickup for those of you who won’t use a camcorder constantly, but still would like to have the ability to record those special events. In those cases, unless you have a lot of disposable income, this is a nice little entry level unit to see how much you’ll actually use one. I know that people usually buy these with the best intentions in the world to use, but it quickly starts gathering dust in the closet and becomes dated techonology.

1 Infocus ScreenPlay 7210 High Definition DLP Projector 1 InFocus 76-inch 16:9 Projector Screen HW-HTSCREEN76

February 13th, 2008 by tom
Infocus 7210 HD DLP Projector w/ Free 76 Infocus 7210 HD DLP Projector w/ Free 76″ Projection Screen

If you have the space to do it, this will be one of the best purchases you will ever make. I purchased a different Infocus projector about 2 years ago now during a Woot Off so I could have the home theater I always wanted. It sat in my basement for about a year before I even opened the box. I can’t believe I waited that long! I was so excited that I was just projecting it on the wall at first, then quickly progressing to a nice white sheet, and then finally to a nice screen. The only negative that I can see on this is that I would want a bigger screen. The whole purpose of having a projector is getting a HUGE image. Depending on the distance from projector to screen you should be able to join the 100″+ club with no problems at all. Please use the Handy Projector Calculator to help you figure out what size screen you can use depending on the dimensions of your room.

Again, on these big purchases, I would also be weary of jumping in too quickly. The price of home projectors have gone down tremendously and should be an option for anyone with the space and means to do it. Please take a look at our recommended items, as I believe that an Uninterruptible Power Supply is a MUST HAVE for one of these setups. If power is lost while the unit is on, you aren’t able to let it cool down using it’s fan properly. You can short the lifespan of your bulb if things go wrong. Plus, the UPS will give you a nice, constant supply of power making sure that it gets exactly what it needs. Please be sure to take a look!

Innovage Jumbo Universal Remote Innovage Jumbo Universal Remote

What a weekend. I was so sick! Not just sick of the crap sold by Woot, but I actually had the flew. I know what’s going to be in the Bag of Crap at the end of the next Woot Off, all those unsold Jumbo Universal Remotes, a Sandisk Sansa M240 1GB MP3 Player with FM Tuner, and a Halberd 31-Piece Roadside Emergency Kit. Looks like I should have stayed in bed tonight.

Uniden TRU12803 5.8Ghz 3 Handset Phone with Answering System, Caller ID, and Speakerphone

Uniden TRU12803 5.8Ghz 3 Handset Phone with Answering System, Caller ID, and Speakerphone Uniden TRU12803 5.8Ghz 3 Handset Phone with Answering System, Caller ID, and Speakerphone

Do people under the age of 30 use home phones any more? I got rid of my home phone years ago when I tried out Vonage for a while, and then just totally got rid of it when I found I didn’t use that either. I’ve been using a cell phone only for the past 4 years or so now. I can’t even really think of a situation where I would go back. For $35, this looks to be a great pickup and I imagine it will sell out at some point depending on Woot’s stock levels. I love the extra units that just act as charge stations. You don’t even have to run a phone line to them since they work off of the main base. So now you can put a phone anywhere you want without worrying about trying to run a phone line to hook it up. This is a just a nice, solid deal from Woot today. Keep up the good work.

Gyration GYT8105US GyroTransport Air Mouse with 512 MB USB Flash Drive

Gyration GYT8105US GyroTransport Air Mouse with 512 MB USB Flash Drive Gyration GYT8105US GyroTransport Air Mouse with 512 MB USB Flash Drive

Oh boy. Another piece of technology that can quickly make you look foolish. I imagine that using one of these while wearing a bluetooth headset will ruin any chance you ever had of making friends. There is nothing better than watching somebody try to work one of these for the first few times. Already nervous, they stand in front of a group of their peers or managers flailing wildly at an invasion of invisible bugs.

Of course you’ll only want to use this for presentations or other situations like that. The somewhat small flash drive is a nice addition as it gives you a place to put your presentation materials. Of course if you have a devious mind, you can always use one of these for great office pranks. Just plug the receiver in the back of a co-workers computer and have fun screwing with their head while you randomly move their cursor from time. The 100 foot range gives you a great head start. Take a look at Wootaholic’s recommendations for today. Please feel free to email tom@wootaholic.com with any suggestions or feedback about the site. We love to hear from you!

John Daly XDS 16 Piece Mens Right Hand Golf Set with Bag Made by Dunlop

John Daly XDS 16 Piece Mens Right Hand Golf Set with Bag Made by Dunlop John Daly XDS 16 Piece Mens Right Hand Golf Set with Bag Made by Dunlop

Golf! What a smashing idea. Too bad we’ve got snow up to our kneecaps here and no real end in sight. I hate to sound like a record, but these just aren’t going to cut it for most golf fanatics. This is a good introductory adult set in case you ever like to go out drinking golfing with your buddies. If that’s the plan, then you couldn’t have picked a better set of clubs than from the legend himself, John Daly. I think I read that the bag comes with a scotch and cigar scented air freshener.

Golf is one of those sports where you have a neverending list of accessories to buy. I’l highlight some of the better accessories and personal choices. Just remember, as with anything, it’s only good if you like it. If it’s something cheap, but works for you - don’t be ashamed of it - embrace it. There’s no need to spend $5 a ball on Pro V1s if you lose two a hole.

Wireless FM Transmitter

February 5th, 2008 by tom
Wireless FM Transmitter Wireless FM Transmitter

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall during the meeting where they named today’s Woot. It would have been pretty darn boring because nobody else showed up. While looking at today’s item I could find a model number, or a manufacturer’s name. I believe that naming this thing was either an after thought or nobody wanted to have their name on it. You can dress these up all you want, but they are still just about exactly as you would expect. Feel free to pick up a couple of sets to cut down on your per piece price. Give one to your dog, give one to a friend you don’t like - whoever you want. Then take a look at our suggested items and buy a good one for yourself.
