Are you traveling so much that you find yourself missing “Scott Baio Is 46…and Pregnant” more than you’d like? Or maybe none of the hotels you stay at carry your beloved MOJO channel? Hey wait, I actually liked some of the shows on MOJO. Either way, take back control of your TV watching. This slingbox type device allows you to watch and control your devices from anywhere with an internet connection. You can use it to control your cable box or DVR and watch things just as though you were at home - just as long as you watch everything at home on a 15″ notebook screen. I imagine it would be nice to settle into your hotel room after a nice long day and watch all of those episodes of “Good Eats” that you missed over the past couple of days from your DVR. Please let me take a moment to praise DVR/Tivo devices and how much they have changed my life. If you don’t already have one and you watch more than 5 hours of TV a week, you are missing out on an amazing device. Do whatever you have to do to get one of these into your home. You’ll never be able to watch “live” TV ever again.

If this is something that you are seriously considering, please take a minute to check out one of the Slingboxes (Slingboxen?) in our related/recommended products. Slingbox was the first company in this type of product and have never heard anything but very glowing reviews. Check out the reviews and specifications to make sure it does what you’d like it to. I don’t think we’ll have to worry about this selling out, so please take your time and make an informed decision on this.

I think one of the things that I forgot to mention from my sick time is how my main computer decided it would be a good time to die. I was in the middle of streaming the second season of Weeds into our home theater room and it just quit. Well I needed my fix damnit. I was hooked. I needed more right then. Unfortunately, the nasty little critters inside me were fighting harder and told me to go fly a kite. I was able to look at it later and it turns out that I needed to a new PSU. I grabbed one of my old boxes and just ripped it out, hoping that I would somehow manage to figure out where everything goes. Amazingly enough it works again. It took less time for my computer to get better than I did. Amazing. You can keep sending those get well wishes to me at tom@wootaholic.com
